Iris Ranola Wins WPBA Classic Qualifer Spot!

More good news on Filipino pool player Iris Ranola, friends!

A full field of 32 participated in the JPNEWT event on the weekend of June 21-22, 2008, at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ. Event sponsors include J.Pechauer Cues and Comet Billiards. The room, which featured well maintained Brunswick Gold Crown, drew talent from the US, Mexico, and the Philippines.

The level of competition was very impressive and included Brenda Heras vs. Linda Shea, and Iris Ranola vs. Asia Cycak going undefeated into Sunday. On the one loss side, they were Tiffany Nelson vs. Zinnie Panju, Emily Duddy vs. 12-year-old Briana Miller.

Iris Ranola stayed very confident and extremely strong through the entire event. With regards to the final round with Tiffany Nelson coming from the one loss side:

Tiffany started out with a 2 game lead, Iris came back to lead 3 - 2. Tiffany jumped to seven with 5 impressive racks. Iris returned with 4 amazing games in a row to tie them 7 to 7.

Tiffany got to the hill first but Iris took the next two games to win the tournament and the Qualifier spot to Charlotte NC WPBA Classic event in September 2008.

The next JPNEWT event will be the New Jersey State Championships on July 12-13, 2008, at Primetime Bar & Billiards.
