Jundel Janno Mazon Celebration At Harbor View! Negros Billiards Stable and JSY Sports Congratulates the Champion!

Jundel Mazon Image
Two days after Filipino pool player Jundel Mazon, aka Janno, won the coveted 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool in Mall Taman Anggrek, Center Atrium, in Jakarta Indonesia, the newest champion from the Pool Capital of the World was treated to a sumptuous dinner at Harbor View, Mall of Asia, by members of the Negros Billiards Stable and JSY Sports.

Mr. Jonathan Sy led pool players and billiards buddies from Negros Billiards Stable, JSY Sports, and the media in congratulating Jundel Mazon for his awesome win in Jakarta, Indonesia. These include my friends Rodolfo “Boy Samson” Luat, Lee Van Corteza, aka The Slayer, Warren “The Warrior” Kiamco, and Roberto Dy aka Bert Pasay. Ricky Zerna, Ish Caparas, and Marlon Bernardino also graced the event. Our friends from The Inquirer newspaper made it to the celebration, too.

The celebration was a nice break from my hectic schedule. I personally witnessed the camaraderie amongst the members of Negros Billiards Stable and JSY Sports. One could personally feel their joy and happiness for Janno – ‘twas all true! All from the heart! They were really happy for Janno – lahat sila!

And because I was seated beside Mr. Jonathan Sy and Janno Mazon, I could not help but overhear Mr. Jonathan Sy’s remarks to Janno before he left for a late business meeting. The Big Boss of Negros Billiards Stable personally expressed to Janno how impressed he was with the latter’s performance in the finals match of the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool. That he and the rest of the team should prepare themselves and all for the 2010 U.S. Open!

And how did Janno Mazon ended the celebration given to him that special night? He personally handed out some goodwill money to each and every member of the Negros Billiards Stable and JSY Sports! Ain’t that a very nice gesture! Now, that is living to the adage that I truly believe in: “We make a living by what we get. But we make a life by what we give.” And I kid you not!

Here are more pictures of that memorable celebration - in YouTube format!

Shanelle Loraine TV Commercial for Cream Silk: A YouTube Video!

I keep receiving a ton of e-mails from my billiards buddies and pool player friends asking about Shanelle Loraine’s TV commercial for Cream Silk – a popular shampoo brand from the Philippines.

Thus, instead of replying to all of them individually, here it is: A YouTube video of the TV commercial starred by the uber-beautiful Shanelle Loraine of Poison Cues.

All video upload credits go to my good friend, Emille Soriano. Many thanks bro!

Masta Plann Pictures in YouTube Video with DMC World DJ Finals!

Clubbers of all ages, here are a compilation of pictures via YouTube videos on the just concluded DMC World DJ Championship – Philippine Search back-to-back with the Masta Plann Reunion Concert!

Indeed, ‘twas an unforgettable hip-hop event! Everyone was treated to a dazzling display of lights, sounds, and grooves by the competing DJs and Masta Plann at the One Esplanade near Mall of Asia! Special guests also dotted the landscape that night, including US-based DJs Mista-B and Deeandroid who flew in that day - all the way from the Land of Milk and Honey - for one of the best live mix performances I have heard to date! And I kid you not!

Of course, the who’s who in the Philippine entertainment industry were there, too! They were all led by none other than the Philippines’ Famous Man of Music – my brother - Jesse (Gonzales) Cambosa!

And rumors have it that Masta Plann is gearing up for another album – soon! Now, ain’t that an awesome news!

Hope you enjoy the pics, everyone! See you next year, y’all!

Alfred Arsua's Letter to the Filipino People!

I received a letter from a kababayan, a good friend of mine, Alfred Arsua. Like thousands of my kababayans, Alfred Arsua currently resides in the United States to work for their families back in the Philippines. He is a singer/songwriter, and was once the champion of a popular singing contest program on television, i.e., Tawag ng Tanghalan.

Alfred Arsua has requested me to publish his letter on this website, hoping that his thoughts will reach the new President of the Republic, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino Jr., and the millions of Filipinos around the world.

Truth be told, I seldom grant such requests. After all, this is a billiards blog. A sports site on Filipino athletes and their achievements. But how could I say no to an old friend (Alfred Arsua), and a dear one (Boyong Jorge) at that? Friends, I simply cannot. And I kid you not!

So without further ado, here is Alfred Arsua’s letter – unedited - to the millions of Filipinos around the world. Alfred’s thoughts are filled with hope. Gratitude. Warmth. Sincerity. And with love. Read on, dear friends.

Maraming Salamat,
Kaibigang Alfred Arsua

To Alfred,

Please give my best to all our kababayans there, my friend! Hope to see some of you in the future! Dalawan ninyo ako rito, ha! Ingats kayo jan!

Your friend,
AnitoKid

Jundel Mazon aka Janno is Guinness World Series of Pool Champion!

Jundel Mazon Graphic

Outstanding form! Amazing win! Jundel Mazon is simply incredible! Jundel Mazon, aka Janno, of Negros Billiards Stable and JSY Sports, has just slaughtered Indonesia’s Irsal Nasution (10-5) to take the coveted championship and crown himself as Champion of the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool!

Fresh from his scintillating win against World Champion Darren Appleton in the semi-finals of the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool this very same day at Mall Taman Anggrek, Center Atrium, in Jakarta Indonesia, Jundel Mazon again found himself down by four (4) racks early on (5-1) in the finals – similar to what happened to him in the semis, i.e., a 3- rack deficit (4-1) against Darren.

And just like in the semis, the finals of the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool was none different! Jundel Mazon again unleashed an incredible comeback – taking nine (9) straight racks! Yes, you’ve read right, everyone! Janno snatched 9 straight racks in the alternate break finals to take the championship and the $40,000 prize! For those in the know, what the Filipino pool player did was not just incredible – it’s simply one unforgettable feat! And I kid you not!

At 5-1, the hometown kid, Irsal Nasution, scratched off the break and never found his rhythm again. And Jundel Mazon did not look back! Safety after safety, excellent position plays, and superb pocketing skills were the order of the day for Jundel. The Philippine pool player’s safeties forced Irsal Nasution to use his jump cue so many times that I lost track counting! It must have been a very frustrating day for the Indonesian!

Truth be told, Jundel Mazon is no longer one of the emerging faces in the Philippine pool circuit! He has now emerged from the shadows! Jundel Mazon IS NOW one of the champions of the Pool Capital of the World! The whole world was witness to how Jundel made his mark in international pool circuit. And marked it good, he did.

Congratulations, Janno! ‘Twas one incredible win! Awesome feat you did there, kabayan! We are very proud of you! Mabuhay!

Jundel Mazon in the Finals of Guinness World Series of Pool!

Jundel Mazon GraphicA revelation! That is what pool player Jundel Mazon is all about! Jundel Mazon of the Negros Billiards Stable is now in the finals of the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool being held at Mall Taman Anggrek, Center Atrium, in Jakarta Indonesia! Who would have thought that Jundel Mazon, one of the emerging faces in the Philippine pool circuit, will be the last one standing in the Pinoy contingent? Wow!

With a complete game under his belt – breaking, pocketing, and safety – Jundel Mazon overcame a 4-1 deficit to crush World 10-Ball Champion Darren Appleton (8-6) in the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool! And what was great about it was how Mazon did it! He made it look so easy – staying cool under pressure – to chip away Darren Appleton’s lead rack after rack after rack! Truth be told, Jundel Mazon took 5 straight racks in that semi-finals game! That's 5 straight racks against the World Champion! Awesome feat! And I kid you not!

Friends, as of press time, Jundel is playing against crowd favorite – local Irsal Nasution.

To Jundel Mazon:

The Pool Capital of the World wishes you the best of luck! We are all watching and staying glued to our seats! Heck, the whole world is watching you! It is your time, brother! Good luck!
