Ricky Zerna Wins Knightshot Champions 9-Ball Challenge!

Congratulations to Filipino pool player Ricky Zerna, aka Bai, for winning the 2008 Knightshot Champions 9-Ball Challenge and the $10,000 first prize at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates!

Ricky Zerna, who hails from the Negros Billiard Stable of Mr. Jonathan Sy, won the finals with a stunning 11-3 victory over 2006 World Pool 9-Ball and 2007 World 8-Ball champion Ronnie Alcano, aka The Volcano! And I kid you not!

Other pool players beaten by Ricky Zerna include Jarry Pelayo of NBS (12-10) and former Asian Games gold medalist Gandy Valle of Bugsy Promotions (11-6).

The 25-year-old Filipino pool player’s campaign in the 2008 Knightshot Champions 9-Ball Challenge was also supported by the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) and Senate President Manny Villar under his Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine Sports program.
