2009 World Pool Championships & The US Open 9-Ball Championships!
I just finished an interesting read about the World Pool Championships, which were staged in the past two years in the Pool Capital of the World – The Philippines. Billiards fans and pool players may have to wait until early 2009 for the prestigious tournament to materialize.
And because of rumors of the possible cancellation of the 2008 World Pool Championships, the US Open 9-Ball Championships has decided to open the field to give all pool players from all over the world the opportunity to compete in the 33rd Annual US Open 9-Ball Championships. The billiards competition will be held at theChesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake , Virginia , on October 19-25, 2008. Format is race-to-11, double elimination, with a race-to-13 finals. The top prize is $40,000! And I kid you not!
Filipino pool players who won the US Open 9-Balll Championships include Efren Bata Reyes, aka The Magician, and Alex Pagulayan, aka The Lion, both from Puyat Sports.
