2008 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship: More Updates!
2008 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship updates!
Billiards buddies, guess what! Filipino pool players Ronnie Alcano and Rodolfo Luat scored impressive wins against their respective opponents in the opening round of the 2008 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship at the Chesapeake Convention Center in Chesapeake, Virginia! And I kid you not!
Ronnie Alcano, aka The Volcano, scored an 11-7 win against Mike Brown of the United States. Rodolfo Luat, aka Boy Samson, was the second Pinoy pool player to score a win after defeating American Louis Ulrich with an 11-5 victory. The Filipino pool players hail from Bugsy Promotions and the Negros Billiard Stable, respectively.
Meanwhile, Joven Alba lost to Chris Melling of Great Britain (11-9). Alba is now in the losers' bracket and is scheduled to square off against Willie Simpson of the United States. Players sent to the losers' side need to win their every match to continue advancing in the prestigious 9-ball competition.
And for those not in the know, four other Filipino pool players drew byes in the first round of the 2008 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship. They are Francisco Django Bustamante of Puyat Sports, Lee Van Corteza and Warren Kiamco of the Negros Billiard Stable, and Jose Amang Parica.
