As a friend of mine from New York, NY, once said, it is very easy for foreigners to set up businesses here in the Philippines. They step off a plane, are welcomed by very hospitable people whose second language is English, do the paperwork and bang! They got a legitimate business here. Minus the ton of red tape, that's all there is to it. Pound for pound, US-based firms choose the Philippines because of the Filipinos' love for work and excellent English comprehension skills. Remember, the ability to speak English does not always correlate with understanding the meaning behind the words that make up the entire language. And this is where Filipinos excel! It is their cup of tea!
With regards to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's proposal, maybe she is just being polite. To collaborate and team up in some areas doesn't necessarily mean that we will give all business opportunities to India. More often than not, foreign policy sucks. But that's all there is to it. What do we do then, you ask? We collaborate in some strategic areas, disseminate information and resources to a certain extent, BUT IN THE END, IT SHOULD BE US who will decide how to slice up the pie and into how many pieces. And I kid you not!
*an interesting take on the subject matter at hand

I kid you not too!
Sharing the BPO pie with India will mean lesser revenue and lesser growth for the domestic sector. It will hurt the Philippine BPO sector in the long run.
Saka masarap ang J&B Buko Pie sa Nueva Vizcaya lalo na kapag bagong luto...he he he
I have tried the buko pie from Vizcaya....PANALO!!!! Tsaka walang sharing na mangyayari. This is a competitive world. The only pieces we can share are the useless and low-paying clients..... Take that India!
