SM City North Edsa: World's Third Biggest Shopping Mall!
Billiards buddies and pool players, guess what! The world's third biggest shopping mall has opened in Quezon City, Philippines! The December 12, 2008 opening of the 90,000-square-meter annex has made the SM City North Edsa mall the third biggest in the world with a gross floor area of 425,000 square meters!For those not in the know, SM Prime Holdings Inc., a holding firm of the country's richest man Henry Sy, also owns the world's fourth, seventh, and 11th biggest malls! And I kid you not!
Tenants have signed up for 70% of the leasable space in the six-storey extension to the mall. And lest I forget, SM Prime has just opened two other malls with a third also set to open soon!
I personally believe that the project launching, amidst the global crisis, highlights SM Prime President Hans Sy’s belief on the longer-term prospects of the Pool Capital of the World. Kudos to Hans Sy and SM Prime Holdings Inc.!
