The National Billiards League & It's New Home! The AMF-Puyat Bowling Inn & Billiards!

National Billiards League NBL GraphicBilliards buddies and pool players, here are some very good news! The National Billiards League (NBL) has found a home for its much-awaited inaugural season in 2009!

Yes, you’ve read right, friends! The AMF-Puyat Bowling Inn and Billiards in Malate, Manila is undergoing a Php2.5-million renovation to make it a state-of-the-art venue for the world’s first season-long professional billiards league!

The Bowling Inn on Taft Avenue, between Quirino and Remedios, will offer exciting billiards competition and lively entertainment.

For those not in the know, the NBL was conceived by Aristeo Puyat, aka Putch, the godfather of Philippine pool. It is supported by none other than two of the country’s premier billiards patrons, Perry Mariano of Bugsy Promotions and Jonathan Sy of the Negros Billiards Stable, as well as the officials of the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines.

A total of eight teams with six players each will compete in the prestigious league. It will be led by charismatic Efren Bata Reyes, widely acknowledged as the greatest pool player to ever wield a pool cue. The distribution of players to the participating corporate teams will be held via a draft scheduled on the first week of January 2009.

Truth be told, the NBL is the next big thing in Philippine sports entertainment! And I kid you not!
