Filipina (Jocelyn Dulnuan) Murdered in Toronto , Canada!
Saw this sad news from my friend over at From the Boondocks. A kababayan, Jocelyn Dulnuan, was found dead in Toronto, Canada. The 27-year-old Filipina from Hingyon, Ifugao, worked as a maid in Mississauga City. Jocelyn Dulnuan came to Canada from the Philippines on a work permit last year. She had worked as a housekeeper for the family that owns the mansion at 2450 Doulton Place for two months. Peel Regional Police suspect robbery was the motive in the death of Jocelyn. Investigators also told reporters that the house was targeted and the victim may have been as well.
Our prayers go to Jocelyn and her bereaved family. May the case be solved soon and here's hoping that the culprit/s be brought to justice ASAP.

I did not hear anything about it, and I even live around this area. Thanks for posting. Anna :)
ohh this is really sad. I hope both Canadian and Filipino government would do thei best to resolve this crime immediately. My condolences to the grieving family. If ever they get to read this..
Just a lil somethin to share for the day:"..”whatever is true, Whatever is noble, Whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent and praiseworthy-think about such things” (Phil4:8)
So sad...Tis a world with too many people bent on evil in it...killing someone to rob them doesn't even make sense.
Tragic. I just went over to her Friendster account... and it's a bit creepy that someone logged in just yesterday.
That area of Mississauga (which is not TORONTO, BTW) is about a 30-40 minute drive from where I live. I read in the newspaper that the mansion is worth approx. 15 million Canadian, so yes... robbery is probably the motive.
I've been following on this developing story, and I have yet to hear from the local police about the owners of the mansion. I only made a reference to them (owners) in Bill's blog as from India, as per conversation to a close source.
Regardless, it's another OFW tragedy. Condolences to the family.
@Anna:
No problem, my friend. You're welcome.

@Parisukat:
We are all hoping for the best kabayan. And we pray that our consulate officials will see the light and not focus too much on the registration rules, which they say are a prerequisite before they can help any OFW. Whether Jocelyn was registered or not, she is still a Filipina, a human being that needs our help and prayers.

@Adam:
I have to agree with you, Adam. Indeed, it is a sad day...

@FruityOaty:
And I heard that the owners of the house are from India?
Sa totoo lang, awa ako sa kabayan natin.....
@TrueBlue:
Yes, kabayan, we have yet to hear from Jocelyn's employers. At sa lahat ng naulila ng ating kabayan, nakikiramay po kami.

This only proves that foreign places are not lands of milk and honey. The death of our kababayan is indeed sad. But the sadder part is that this case might just be ignored. Most of us Filipinos consider going abroad as opportunity to improve our lives. But I guess we have to think again. Being outside of our comfort zone makes us more vulnerable to threats. Several Filipinos die abroad every year. This will never stop because we have millions of kababayans overseas. Of course we can always argue that living here without food on the table is equivalent to death. But I guess dying where you were born makes more sense. It is always about the money my friends. Sad!
Now, this is the Sam I know! I'm glad to see you're "up to your element" once again, bro! (sounds familiar?) :)
Very well said, Sam! Your thoughts are always a welcome read hear. Come to think of it - ANYWHERE! And I kid you not!

Hi Anitokid,
Thanks for also blogging about this. More more it is talked about in the blogosphere, the better because it might push government officials to do their part. Too often, they just turn their back when there's a problem being faced by an OFW.
That's what I figured Bill. Hope justice won't be elusive for our kababayan. Much thanks for the great post and follow-up articles on this, my friend!

My condolences to the family. What I also find annoying, however, is why family and friends and the Filipino community are trying to raise funds to return Jocelyn home. Her employer is a doctor living in a 15 million dollar mansion. They must take some responsibility for the welfare of their employees. Surely the least the employer can do offer is to return her home. IMO, that's the very least the employer should do.
such a horrible news let us pray that justice and rights will prevail.
@Anonymous:
Let us hope that the employer will do just that.
I guess our Filipino brothers and sisters, both in Toronto and in the Philippines, know that the DFA and other agencies of the Philippine government will be slow in their responsibilities with regard to the situation.
And unused funds could also be earmarked for the education of Jocelyn's daughter....
@Evz:
To date, investigators have released few details about the murder and even Jocelyn's own family hasn't been told how she died.
Let us all hope for the best...
.
Philippine consulate pls. do something about this.!
hi .. ya its so sad !i also searched her friendster profile ,did anyone notice that on her friendster profile she has mention her occupation as CRIMINOLOGIST... its so strange..
sanjay from india
@Sanjay:
Jocelyn earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Baguio, and was a certified criminologist in the Philippines. She is the 9th of 10 siblings and comes from Hingyon in Ifugao province of the Philippines
Jocelyn is survived by her husband, Sandy Kinnud, and their four-year-old daughter, Kristine Angelique.
