YouTube Video: Boys Will Be Boys!

Warning! The YouTube video isn't about billiards, Filipino pool players, or boxing! The video isn't even about Philippine sports! I found it while surfing the Web and found this one particularly interesting. It is interesting because it highlights one of man's inner strengths, i.e., helping others in their time of need. However, what makes the YouTube video more compelling to watch is that it also highlights the adage, "Boys will be boys!" :)

Hope you like it, friends!

The "How To Survive A Zombie Attack" Video!

A good friend of mine from Brazil sent me this video link on how to survive a zombie attack. I say, it's one hell of a video that is in tune this Halloween! And please do not forget to check out the world's first Zombie Survival and Defense Wiki! IT IS a one-of-a-kind site!

Now, if my friends could only send me videos and posts on how corrupt government officials manage to stay in office and still have the decency to make empty promises to their constituents, hold their heads up high, sleep soundly at night, and look at people straight in the eye without batting an eyelash. I'll bet that such a video would make headlines amidst deadlines. But a video on feeding corrupt politicians to zombies would even be a better treat! And I kid you not!

Teaching English at SpeechPower, the Cora Doloroso Career Center, and the John Robert Powers School System.

A thousand memories rushed through my mind when I saw a post and video on students studying the English language. And how my head hurts from the rush!

Remember SpeechPower? Indeed, the speech and personality development center has come a long way! It's learning system is based on the premise that "Learning is Progressive." It touts its system as the result of careful planning and execution - ensuring progression.
How about the Cora Doloroso Career Center, which offers vocational education and personality development courses? It now has an extensive partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)! And who can forget the John Robert Powers School System? Some said that John Robert Powers was instrumental in their success in the Philippine entertainment industry! Imagine that! The school reputedly taught everything there is to know on how to becoming a successful model or a respected actor via hard work, patience, persistence, and luck! Wow!

Still, with headache and all, I can't help but think and ponder how these institutions, these great schools, will meet the challenge of teaching the English language to Japanese students. Would they do it with TLC (tender loving care)? Or with brute force? Or would they come up with a learning system similar to the one I just saw? And would such a system improve the rate of success? Can it be adapted to other courses? So many questions. So little time. Hmmm. Why don't you decide!

Tetris! The Ultimate Non-Stop Action Game for Everyone!

Remember Tetris?

Borne from his fondness for the classic geometric puzzle board game “Pentominos”, an innovative Russian computer programmer named Alexey Pajitnov develops an electronic variant using just four building blocks (Tetris from Greek “Tetra” meaning four) for the computers at his workplace, the Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

When he gives it to colleagues, it becomes an instant, hugely addictive hit, and shortly thereafter spreads like wildfire via floppy disk throughout the Soviet Bloc’s computer literate.

The instant rise and continued success of Tetris has had profound and virtually incalculable impact on the video game industry. It is typically listed as one of the top 5 video games of all time in magazine and Internet panels every year as much for its influence as for its gameplay.

Tetris (Russian: Тетрис) is a falling-blocks puzzle video game, released on a large spectrum of platforms. Alexey Pajitnov originally designed and programmed the game in 1984, while working for the Dorodnicyn Computing Centre of the Academy of Science of the USSR in Moscow. Pajitnov has cited pentominoes as a source of inspiration for the game. He derived its name from the Greek numerical prefix "tetra-", as all of the pieces contain four segments, and tennis, Pajitnov's favorite sport.[1]

The game (or one of its many variants) is available for nearly every video game console and computer operating system, as well as on devices such as graphing calculators, mobile phones, portable media players, and PDAs. Tetris has even appeared as part of an art exhibition on the side of Brown University's 14-story Sciences Library [1]. Tetris consistently appears on lists of the greatest video games of all time. While versions of Tetris were sold for a range of 1980s home computer platforms, it was the hugely successful handheld version for the Nintendo Game Boy launched in 1989 that established the reputation of the game as one of the most popular ever.

Not even Alexey Pajitnov dreamed of Tetris becoming
one of Japan's best-loved TV games!
And I kid you not!
