Dennis Orcollo Wins San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest 9-Ball Open!
Congratulations to Dennis Orcollo, aka Robocop, for winning against Rodolfo Luat, aka Boy Samson, in the finals of the 2010 San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest 9-Ball Open at the SM Skydome, SM City North Edsa, Quezon City!
The 31-year-old pool player from Bugsy Promotions, grabbed the momentum when Puyat Sports' Luat scratched after sinking the 4-ball in the 9th rack of the championship. Orcollo then took the next two racks to post a 7-4 cushion.
A missed try by the Robocop on a 3-9 combination allowed Boy Samson to close in at 7-5. However, the favorite son of Bislig, Surigao, swept the last four racks en route to the 2010 San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest 9-Ball Open championship win worth a cool Php500,000. Luat settled for the Php200,000 runner-up prize.
Both Orcollo and Luat are scheduled to compete in Guangzhou, China for the 16th Asian Games. And I kid you not!
Dennis Orcollo was the first to advance to the finals round of the 32-man competition after beating Antonio Lining, 10-7, in the day’s first semi-finals match. Rodolfo Luat scored wins against Francisco Bustamante in the quarterfinals (9-6) and Ronnie Alcano in the semis.
