telcos - laws and regulations

The US telecommunications industry is characterized by intense competition, i.e., the average consumer has 5-8 choices for wireless phone service. The industry needs to consider proposed regulations carefully to ensure that the benefits of such specifically target the perceived market failures and exceed the associated costs. After all, regulations sometime have unintended results and regulating how wireless carriers utilize their networks affects business operations and their financial take in the end. As a final note, the creation of standards undoubtedly brings large benefits, both to the enterprise and the individual, but the industry should establish them in a way that promotes cooperation, convergence, and robust competition, and not collusion.

unless the memory of past events
is woven with those of earlier times?
