Antonio Nikoy Lining is Ranked Number 1 in the World of Billiards!

Here is one great news, billiards enthusiasts and pool player friends! Filipino pool player Antonio Nikoy Lining’s impressive semifinals finish in the just-concluded 2011 Philippine Open Pool Championship propelled him as the world’s No. 1 player! And I kid you not!

According to one of my sources, no less than World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) President Ian Anderson confirmed this exciting news during the Finals Day of the prestigious event. However, the official tabulation has not been finalized.

Nikoy unseated fellow Filipino pool player Francisco Django Bustamante, who did not see action in the competition. Truth be told, it will be the first time in Lining’s 30-year pool career that the soft-spoken, left-handed pool player from Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, will take the world No. 1 spot! And that is one awesome feat!

For those not in the know, Lining plays for the Negros Billiards Stable and JSY Sports under the able management and guidance of businessman Jonathan Sy. He also coaches several pool clubs in Japan.

Congratulations Nikoy! You are numero uno! Mabuhay!
