Toti Alberto, a billiards buddy, sent me a link to finding some of the best credit cards available on the planet today. My pool player friend highlighted BestCreditCards.us, which is one of the best online site to search for and find amazing data on credit cards.

BestCreditCards.us features credit cards that allow online applications, thus, one can immediately apply for such! But wait, there’s more! The site has also segmented the credits cards by type, brand, and issuers! Now, this is one cool time savings feature in my book! Or in anyone’s book, mind you!

Jose Amang Parica & BCA Hall of Fame: What Gives?

I was browsing one of my favorite billiards sites, AZ Billiards, and came upon a special guest editorial by Barry Behrman. The post, which was published on February 10, 2009, highlights 10 reasons why Filipino pool player Jose “Amang” Parica must be inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame.

The article is short. Concise. A very good read on one of my favorite pool players ever! It makes anyone, and everyone, pool player or not, think and contemplate on why Amang Parica isn't in the BCA Hall of Fame. Believe you me, friends, Amang should have been included in it a long time ago! And I kid you not!

must be inducted into the BCA Hall Of Fame

1. He is the leader of invasion - 1st of many to encourage other great Filipino players to come to the United States.

2. He has been a top player for 3+ decades.

3. He has given 58 years of dedication to the game that he loves.

4. He has proven to be a true gentleman at all times.

5. Paid his dues as much if not more than many other great players, in addition he has played in more tournaments on US soil than any other Filipino player.

6. There is not one good reason for him not to be inducted. If so name them. I am sure that you can not.

7. Placed 2nd twice in the U.S. Open

8. There are many other players inducted who also have not won the U.S. Open

9. He travels and is an ambassador for pool all over the world.

10. Let’s all give this man the justice that he rightfully deserves and induct him into the Billiards Congress of America Hall of Fame. It would be unconstitutional not to. If not this year, before he reaches or turns 60 years of age.

Hadley Mariano Bags MAPPA 9-Ball Summit Championship!

Billiards buddies and pool players, I just read something nice from the Philippine Daily Inquirer and People’s Tonight. The articles highlight Hadley Mariano’s championship at the just-concluded 9-Ball Summit of the Makati Pool Players Association.

Truth be told, the picture used in the papers (see below) is the first pic I’ve taken to be published in a daily and tabloid – and simultaneously! Coolness! And I kid you not!

MAPPA crown to Bugsy’s Mariano

Hadley Mariano swept his way into the finals and then edged Jonathan Dy in a thrilling title showdown, 7-6, to rule the Class C division of the Makati Pool Players Association (MAPPA) 9-Ball Summit, Monday night at the AMF-Puyat Billiards Center in Makati City.

In was an astounding feat for the 15-year-old son of Bugsy Promotions’ heads Perry and Verna Mariano as it was his first appearance at MAPPA.

The victory has earned Mariano, a second-year high school student at La Salle Greenhills Php3,000 cash prize, a handsome tropy, and an overnight stay for two at Oxford Suites.

“I’m very happy for this win,” said Mariano, who is looking to follow the footsteps of his fellow Bugsy boys, i.e., world number 1 Dennis Orcollo, world champion Ronnie Alcano, Roberto Gomez, and Gandy Valle.

“I hope I could continue to improve my game, and I’ll work hard to do that,” he added.

Organized by MAPPA, led by its president Jesse (Gonzales) Cambosa, in cooperation with The AnitoKid, the tournament also achieved a historic first for being the first amateur billiards club competition to be broadcast on television and aggregated on the Internet through www.anitokid.blogspot.com.
