Filipino Pool Player Rubilen Amit on UNTV!

Good Morning Kuya Graphic

My good friends, Edgar "Boyet" Asonto (Coach of the Philippine Billiards Team) and Rubilen Amit, aka Bingkay, did an interview for the sports segment of UNTV's Good Morning Kuya! television program at the AMF-Puyat Superbowl, Makati Cinema Square in Makati City, yesterday afternoon. What follows is a picture-essay on the fun we all had that day! Hope you like it!

Rubilen Amit GraphicFilipino pool player Rubilen Bingkay Amit in her winning form. Indeed, the 2005 and 2007 SEA Games Gold Medalist has come a long way! Her unmistakable rhythm and attitude towards the game that we all have learned to love has catapulted her from an ordinary everyday player to one of the Philippines' best-loved sports figures!

Rubilen Amit ImageUNTV's Ryan Ramos tries his hand, err luck, against the 1st-Runner up of the 2007 Amway Women's World 9-Ball Championship! Hey wait, there could be something to that form! Seriously, Boyet Asonto can definitely soften up those rough edges. And I've seen him do it countless times - turning novice players into one incredible playing machine!

9-Ball Player Rubilen Amit GraphicNow, this one is for the books, says the cameraman! Rubilen Amit, the Philippines' Number 1 player gives Ryan Ramos some tips and tricks on aiming and pocketing. Keep your fingers crossed, everyone! :)

And for the nth time!"

Filipino Pool Player Rubilen Amit ImageA pose here. A pose there. The Filipino pool player is now steadily climbing the steps to international stardom! Did you know that Rubilen Amit had a very impressive win over Allison Fisher in the 2007 Amway Women's 9-Ball World Championship? The Duchess of Doom is considered to be the world's best female player. Bingkay also trounced former champion Ga Young Kim and Yukiko Hamanishi on her way to the finals! The field that our kababayan went through is the toughest ever - consisting of Taiwan's top cue artists and Europe's Kelly Fisher and Jasmin Ouschan!

Rubilen Bingkay Amit ImageThe Coach sharing his thoughts

About a week after the 2007 SEA Games was concluded, someone asked my good friend, Boyet Asonto, his thoughts on Rubilen Amit winning the gold. One of the questions centered on Rubilen's playing ability and whether or not she experiences nervousness or the like during tours and all. Without any hesitation, the Coach replied, "We all have that feeling. Every pool player has it. What is special about Rubilen is her ability to handle it well, channeling such such feeling into a positive force to deliver and bring home the bacon."

Rubilen Bingkay Amit GraphicPack up! Pack up!

Pool Player Rubilen Bingkay Amit ImageYes, AMF-Puyat is my second home. I will not transfer to other stables even if they gave me a million bucks! Besides, they have to get the coaches, too! And don't forget the other members of the Philippine Billiards Team!

Pool Player Rubilen Bingkay Amit GraphicYes, sir! The staff and crew of UNTV's Good Morning, Kuya! TV program had one incredible day with the Philippines' Number 1 female player at the AMF-Puyat Superbowl! O, sa'n ka pa, di ba?

Rubilen Amit ImageI'll give you one good guess where she got this!
Could it be at the 2007 SEA Games in Thailand?!!

Rubilen Amit ImageAfter all was said and done, everybody prepared to go their separate ways. But not before my good friend, Coach Boyet Asonto, gave TV personality Ryan Ramos one of The AnitoKid's BlogCard! And the Coach didn't stop there! He explained each and every detail of the BlogCard and even highlighted some of my accomplishments! Maraming salamat, kaibigan!

And how to end such a fun-filled and unforgettable day? With a picture of the SEA Games Gold Medalist Rubilen Amit with Coach Boyet Asonto and The AnitoKid, aka The Champ - that's how! And I kid you not!

I don't like her much because she's not tall enough, but man, CAN SHE PLAY???

Is the sky blue?

And there is a different kind of intensity with her focus, and a very filipino fluidity with her stroke.

Very Filipino! And I love her for that!

The pool tables looks big, like snooker tables :)

@Momel:

Can she play? My good friend beat the Duchess of Doom in the 2007 9-Ball World Pool (women). It was the first time that the Duchess was put in the lower half of the board since she started competing in that tour. And I kid you not!

And oh! Rubilen Amit successfully defended her crown against the best of Asia in 2007!

Now, if such do not serve as a true testament to her pool playing prowess, then I guess nothing will! :)

SHE SURE CAN PLAY! And i kid you not, kabayan!

Online Bingo:

The tables conform to international standards, my friend. After all, they were made by Puyat Sports.

The Predator cues in the post are Rubilen's. I have several Pred cues and will soon offer them for sale to friends and here at my site. The money will be used to buy more cues! :)

I have this weird habit of buying, collecting, and when I win a tour or major money match, i quickly retire the cue and buy a new one. It's like an incentive for me. Not to brag, I have quite a nice collection of pool cues. A small fortune I spent on these. And I kid you not!
